Contact your elected officials and start making a difference today!
We need all our elected officials to know that these towers are excessive, disruptive and disrespectful to our beautiful beach town! Your voice is important. You don’t need to follow the template below, but if it helps you, please use it!
A few helpful hints:
Make sure you’re emailing the person who actually represents you. If you contact a US Representative from California when you live in New Jersey, most will just forward your email on as a "matter of professional courtesy.” In Belmar, our US Representative is Chris Smith. Our Senators are Cory Booker and Robert Menendez.
Make it personal! If you’re mad, you can say so!
Make sure you leave contact information. Most officials have contact forms on their websites that will require you to include your contact information so that they can reply, but it doesn’t hurt to include it in the body of the letter as well.
Have a direct ask. The ask may vary depending on who you are contacting.

Dear ELECTED OFFICIAL,
As a resident of Belmar, I was shocked and appalled to discover that Verizon won the right to build twenty 35-foot cell towers right on top of our beach. This project will ruin the beauty of our beach and destroy our property values. We are also concerned that any potential health and environmental ramifications have not been fully explored.
Our town and our surround communities do not want these towers. As of today, thousands of people have signed a petition calling on Verizon to stop the current project. You can view the petition here: https://www.change.org/StopVerizonInBelmar
Verizon's plans are excessive, disruptive and disrespectful to our community and our treasured natural resources.
I am asking for your support. Please call on Verizon to stop all plans and to work with the community to find a solution that does not involve placing ugly towers on our beach.
I can be reached at EMAIL or by phone at PHONE NUMBER. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
NAME
